Inspiration

Traditional interior design is often expensive, time-consuming, and difficult for everyday homeowners or micro-entrepreneurs to visualize. We were inspired to build LuminaSpace AI to bridge this gap—empowering anyone to instantly transform ordinary room photos into professional, elegant interior design concepts using the power of generative artificial intelligence.

What it does

LuminaSpace AI is an advanced AI-powered interior design and space visualization web application. Users can upload a photo of an empty or outdated room, choose their desired style, and let the AI generate professional design concepts, layout recommendations, and matching furniture ideas in real time.

How we built it

Frontend: Developed using React, Vite, and Tailwind CSS for a responsive, modern, and high-performance user interface.
Backend & Database: Integrated Supabase for seamless user data handling and secure cloud state management.
AI Integration: Powered by Google Gemini API and state-of-the-art diffusion models via Hugging Face to handle intelligent prompt processing and high-quality room rendering.
Deployment: Hosted and deployed on Vercel with automated CI/CD pipelines.

Challenges we ran into

Managing complex asynchronous calls and balancing response times between text generation (Gemini) and heavy image transformation pipelines.
Fine-tuning prompt engineering to ensure the AI preserves the structural layout of the original room while accurately applying new stylistic elements.
Optimizing client-side rendering performance for high-resolution visual assets.

What we learned

Deepened our mastery of integrating multimodal AI models into production-ready web architectures.
