Inspiration
While experimenting some playful mood-based apps, I realized there was room to go beyond just visualizing emotions. I wanted something that could not only reflect moods through colors, but also uplift users with personalized nudges. That’s how Lumiishift was born, a lightweight AI app that turns emotions into a spark of motivation.
What it does
Lumiishift helps users shift their mood into light, color, and positive energy. Pick how you feel, and Lumiishift instantly: -Maps your mood to a color theme 🌈 -Generates a motivational or self-care tip ✨ -Adds playful visuals (balloons, sparkles, waves) to boost your vibe 🎉
How I built it
-Started with a Streamlit scaffold generated using Kiro’s spec-to-code feature. -Used inline coding to map moods → colors + animations. -Added a Kiro agent hook to automate the motivational text generation (via API). -Polished the interface for a smooth and lightweight demo.
Challenges I ran into
-Getting the balance right between fun visuals and clean UX. -Making sure the color-mood mappings felt intuitive and not random. -Time crunch ⏳ - building something meaningful quickly!
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
-Shipped a functional, visually engaging app quickly. -Leveraged Kiro in multiple ways (specs, inline code, hooks).
What I learned
-How powerful AI-assisted development can be for rapid prototyping. -Streamlit is an excellent choice for hackathon demos with visual flair. -Sometimes the simplest ideas (mood → motivation) resonate the most.
What's next for LumiiShift
-Add more nuanced mood detection (text input, sentiment analysis). -Enable customizable themes so users can pick their own vibe. -Deploy as a web app with persistent profiles for daily check-ins. -Explore integration with wearables to auto-detect moods in real time.
