Inspiration & Goal
I was inspired by the elegant, smooth designs of high-end brands (like Marquet NYC) and wanted to prove that their sophisticated aesthetic could be achieved using pure HTML and CSS, with zero JavaScript. My goal was to create a gorgeous digital storefront for a fictional, high-contrast bistro called Lumière and Velvet in Boston's North End.
Key Achievements (CSS-Only)
Working completely solo at age 15, I delivered advanced, interactive features:
- Dynamic Motion: Implemented Faux Parallax Scrolling (
background-attachment: fixed) on the main image banners, simulating depth and movement. - Polished UX: Used CSS Keyframe Animations for visual polish (image fade-ins) and created a Sticky Section Header (
position: sticky) to anchor the core brand story. - Design Integrity: Successfully maintained a high-contrast, minimalist aesthetic with careful attention to elegant typography and UI spacing, fixing tricky layout issues caused by using large fonts and zero libraries.
What I Learned
I learned the immense power of advanced CSS properties and how to achieve complex visual illusions through creative, code-efficient work—proving that strong design doesn't always require heavy JavaScript dependencies. It was a massive personal win!
