Lumen

Lumen was inspired by a simple problem: students often struggle to see how what they learn in college connects to the career they want. Lumen is an AI companion that helps students plan their college journey, explore careers, and connect classes, skills, and experiences to their long-term goals. We built it as a personalized AI experience that turns a student’s goals and interests into actionable guidance. One of our biggest challenges was staying focused on our core goal. We kept wanting to add more features, which sometimes pulled us away from the purpose of making college and career planning simpler. We’re proud of our design and clear visual experience, which makes it easier for students to understand and plan out their future. Along the way, we learned that building a focused product often means knowing what not to build. Next, we want to make Lumen more personalized, expand its college and career planning capabilities, and help students continuously navigate their journey from classroom to career.
