Inspiration

Our inspiration for our project stems from our selected category, the environment. We created thought of a Lumberjack as the theme of our adventure game, and built the resulting features based on the character. We thought it would be hilarious having the Lumberjack, typically known for cutting down trees, start planting them, hence the name of the game "Lumberjack's Redemption". This also ties into the gardening aspect of the environment category as he destroys plastic and plants trees in its place.

What it does

This is an eco-adventure game where the player controls the character, Larry the Lumberjack, and travels around the world finding water bottles to annihilate and plant trees in its place.

How we built it

We built the backend in combination with Python, Pygame, Visual Studio Code, and Github. For the game's look we used Figma software to design the lumberjack and the environment around him.

Challenges we ran into

Figuring out how to animate the character running and generate the trees after the plastic water bottles were destroyed.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we were able to collaborate together as a team of 4 to creatively design and program an adventure game.

What we learned

We learned so many concepts such as learning how to use Github to collaborate on the code as a team, combining tools such as Figma, Pygame, and Visual Studio Code together in one project, and figuring out the development process for designing and creating a video game.

What's next for Lumberjack's Redemption

Adding more animations, elements, and functionality to the game so that it becomes a multi-billion dollar producing game one day.

In "Lumberjack's Redemption," players step into the boots of a profusely determined specimen, "Larry the Lumberjack", tasked with saving the environment from plastic pollution. Armed with an axe and a mission to eradicate plastic bottles, he traverses a wide landscape, battling the environmental hazards of over pollution while planting trees to restore balance. As players chop down plastic bottles and plant trees, they witness the rejuvenation of nature and the defeat of pollution. With each swing of the axe and every tree planted, they embark on a heroic journey to protect the Earth's delicate ecosystem. Join the adventure, wield the axe, and become the ultimate eco-warrior in "Lumberjack's Redemption."
