Inspiration
We got inspired by the Ludo King game app. We often play it together, so we wanted to know what happens behind the scenes, how each algorithm works and overall how the developer of Ludo would have coded it. We created our own version of it with more features, so the game allows the users to input their names, choose how many people want to play. We also changed the colours and the how the pawns look like.
What it does
The purpose of the game is to go around the board and come back to your house with all 4 pawns. However it’s not as easy at it sounds. 2-4 people can play, and they will try to kill each other’s pawns when possible in order to stop your opponents from winning.
How we built it
We used Java to build the game, we designed it first and then split the project into 4 even parts. Everyone focused on their part, did their best they can and when everyone completed their parts we put the game together.
Challanges we ran into
The algorithms were quite complex and the game we chose could have been difficult to code in 24 hours. However due to great management and leadership skills, we were able to complete it in time.
Accomplishments that we’re proud of
We’re proud of completing the game and making it look like how we imagined it to be. The project was full of obstacles but with great teamwork we managed to overcome each difficulty such as major errors in the code and execution problems. We didn’t compromise with anything, not even the colours, we put our best and professional side to work.
What we learnt
We can achieve anything as long as we work together fairly as a team. In terms of coding, we learnt how to display a board game, and many other functions we didn’t know how to use before.
What’s next for Ludo King
We want to be able to include 2 more players so that 6 people can play. We could also add a timer mode, so that when the game starts, the first person to get all their pawns back at home, before the timer ends, wins.
