Inspiration

I find most good games through Instagram reels and YouTube Shorts. I save them and send them to friends. Then, when I finally have time to play, I can't find any of them, so I open whatever is already installed. Digging through a store library for something good is just too tiring.

Lewis described the same problem and asked for a gaming bucket list, a memory card for the games you want to play. That's Ludeck.

What it does

  • Save from anywhere. Share a reel, Short, TikTok, Reddit post or Steam page to Ludeck. It finds the game, and you confirm.
  • Hang it on a tree. Drag games onto trees you name, like "Cozy" or "Co-op".
  • Shake to pick. Can't decide? Shake your phone and a game falls from your tree.
  • Tonight. Choose your console and how long you have, and Ludeck reminds you when time's up.
  • Finish and rate. Finished games turn gold. Rating takes one tap.

You can start without an account. You only sign in for friends.

Made to share

Finding games has always been social. We swap reels, show off what we're playing and trust a friend's pick over any ranking. Ludeck is built around that.

  • Your trees are your taste. Style each tree's blossom, wood and ground, so your orchard looks like you.
  • Share a tree as a card. It's laid out like a poster, with your name on it.
  • Follow friends and see what they're playing. Their picks become your next find.
  • Send a game in your own words. It lands on their tree as a pale bud, so a friend's pick never gets lost in a chat again.
  • Safe to share. Cards never show your notes or who recommended a game, and only people who follow you can send you one.

How I designed it

  • Never a store. Store grids are what overwhelm you, so there's no catalogue, no charts and no endless feed of new releases. You only see games you kept or a friend sent.
  • An orchard, not a checklist. A to-do list of games feels like homework. A tree is something you look after. Nothing withers and nothing nags.

Monetization with RevenueCat

Ludeck Pro is monthly or yearly, sold through Google Play and managed with RevenueCat. Pro adds more trees, every tree look and extra Tonight options. Saving, picking, reminders, friends and sharing stay free. I didn't want to charge for the reason people open the app. Pro is tied to your account, so it follows you to a new phone.

How I built it

  • Flutter for Android. The trees, meadow and share card are drawn in code.
  • IGDB, the game database, to match the game in a shared link.
  • Your library lives on your phone. Friends and sending games run on Supabase, and only people who follow you can send you a game.
  • RevenueCat for subscriptions, and Rive for the animated fruit.
  • 900+ automated tests.

Challenges

  • A shake that means it. A light bump only rustles the leaves. Only a real shake picks a game.
  • Messy video titles. A title is rarely just the game's name, so Ludeck suggests matches and you choose.

What's next

iOS, and importing your Steam library.
