Inspiration

Knowledge management is a big challenge for organizations. “Fortune 500 compagnies lose roughly “31,5 billion a year by failing to share knowledge.” Lunch&Learn events are a viable solution to help spread knowledge to an entire organization on a continuous basis. We hoped to solve the problem of knowledge sharing and simultaneously promoting a living workspace where individuals develop long-lasting relationships.

What it does

Lucile is the easiest way to organize a Lunch & Learn event and to share knowledge around a lunch!

How we built it

Node.js bot integration with botkit listens to commants in a channel allowing users to begin a Lunch&Learn event! Commands such as /lunchandlearn /idea and /vote allow employees to begin an event, submit their ideas and vote for their favorite submissions!

Challenges we ran into

We only had 24 hours to develop the bot so we cut a few corners! We have an incomplete backend implementation which was to be used to visualize data on previous and upcoming Lunch&Learn events. Some specific use cases for the bot were also problematic to implement such as private messaging.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Lucile plans your Lunch & Learn from A to Z : set a date, collect subject's ideas and provide Google Slides support for the presenter of the winning submission.

What we learned

How to brainstorm, work in a team and pitch in less than 5 minutes.

What's next for Lucile

Lucile will be able to collect feedback on private channel after a Lunch & Learn and send it back to the speaker. Lucile-slack robot is free and the previous Lunch & Learn will be available to the team online.
