Inspiration

We are all freshmen here at Lehigh, which means we had to download five plus apps during orientation week. Even now, some of these apps go unused or are just too difficult to be practical. We thought that combining the most used resources into one simple and efficient app would solve this inconvenience.

What it does

LU Link combines the Lehigh Transit App, all important resources that used to be separated by different websites and apps, a new dining dollar budget planner, and a club bulletin board into one simple website.

How we built it

Our webpage is an independent webpage that uses Java, HTML, CSS and Google Maps' API to give students a pleasant experience. We developed a plan and had Claude make us a prompt that acted as a backbone for our future prompting. We ran with this backbone and worked to develop a seamless, and aesthetically pleasing webpage as such.

Challenges we ran into

As beginner coders, our main challenge was navigating the complexities of using git for the first time, but also understanding how we could use AI to its fullest potential to help us realize our ideas.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were proud to have created a suite of tools that are not only functional but specifically useful to Lehigh students like us. We also completed this project with less than a year's worth of coding experience between all of us, making our end result particularly impressive.

What we learned

We learned how to collaborate on code through Git, we learned how to use HTML and CSS to style a Java program. And we learned how to use Codex and Claude in collaboration to create a working project.

What's next for LU Link

We hope to expand LU Link further and supply to other schools. We believe that it's ideals of simplifying the confusion of online resources are applicable to universities all over the world. As such, we'll aim to make this tool a more widespread and mass appealing resource.
