Synthesis Report: Understand the News Better with AI

It's getting harder to know what to trust online. All news sources are trying to promote their own narrative, and make you outraged to keep you engaged. Synthesis Report uses AI to help you cut through the noise and understand the news in an objective, analytical manner.

Every day, we pull the latest top articles from different sources. We then parse the information through AI, presenting information in a way that's clear, fair, and accurate. In addition, our AI-powered platform goes beyond basic reporting, providing elevated analysis to help you understand complex topics by synthesizing reports aggregated across sources across the political spectrum, showing you different perspectives, narratives, and explanations of the same events.

Here's how it works:

  • We pull articles from the web using Node.js and Puppeteer.
  • Advanced AI models (on platforms including Gemini and Cerebras) then create summaries and highlight the key issues.
  • We also built in a system to keep everything organized so you can easily look back at past reports, as well as reports for individual sources using Express JS and React

One of our biggest challenges was getting the AI to highlight the right information. It took a lot of work to get the AI to understand what was most important in each article.

We're proud of the system we created that can take in information from various news sites and turn it into something that's easy to understand, insightful, and well-written.

Along the way, we learned how tricky it is to get AI to extract the core of an article and communicate it effectively. We also realized how important it is to make the platform easy to use, so people can actually benefit from the information they're getting.
