The spark for the "LPU Name Service" project comes from a simple yet powerful idea: let's make students' lives in the digital age easier and more exciting. We're hyped about all the cool stuff blockchain and Web3 can do, especially in education. Think about it – no more fussing with paper certificates, easy access to exclusive educational goodies, and super secure communication. Plus, we're on a mission to fix some real-world problems in education. And hey, we're all about building a fun, friendly community and making a mark that'll be remembered as a game-changer in the world of learning.

This project is designed to enhance the experience of university students. Here's what it does

  1. NFT Student IDs: It issues each student a unique Web3 domain as an NFT (Non-Fungible Token) with a university domain. This digital identity is like a supercharged student ID card, ensuring that it's one-of-a-kind and incredibly secure.
  2. Document Management: Students can use their Web3 domains to receive and securely store academic documents, certificates, and records. No more worrying about losing important papers!
  3. Access to Exclusive Content: With their Web3 domains, students can unlock exclusive educational content and resources on NFT-gated websites. It's like having a VIP pass to the digital learning world.
  4. Communication Hub: Just like traditional .edu email addresses, students can use their Web3 domains for communication within the university. It's a trusted and secure channel for academic correspondence.

The project uses the react framework for building client-side application and is deployed to the IPFS using Spheron. The smart contract is written in Solidity and deployed to the Mumbai testnet of Polyon.

The main challenge we faced was fetching existing IDs from the smart contract and displaying it on the application. However, we made a function to detect, fetch and display IDs.

This project can be further developed into a full-service platform like an authentication system for universities to assign IDs and build many platforms on top of it like a platform for exclusive content, communication system, etc.
