Inspiration
LoyaltyHub was built for Hacklanta 2026, inspired by the Social Good track and the Replit Small Business Sponsor Challenge. Small businesses rely on repeat customers but often lack the resources to develop custom mobile apps or afford expensive loyalty software. We wanted to bridge this gap by combining the simplicity of traditional punch cards with the convenience of modern technology, helping local businesses build customer relationships and compete more effectively.
What It Does
LoyaltyHub is a digital loyalty and promotions platform that connects independent businesses with the customers who support them.
For customers, LoyaltyHub allows them to:
- Discover participating local businesses.
- Join loyalty programs and collect digital stamps.
- Manage multiple loyalty cards in one place.
- Track progress toward rewards and redeem eligible offers.
- Explore promotions and special deals.
For business owners, LoyaltyHub makes it possible to:
- Create and manage digital loyalty programs.
- Customize rewards and promotional campaigns.
- Track loyalty memberships and customer activity.
- Gain insights into customer engagement and repeat visits.
- Manage promotions without needing a custom mobile app or complicated checkout integrations Our goal is to make customer loyalty accessible, affordable, and easy to manage for businesses of all sizes.
How We Built It
We developed LoyaltyHub using Replit, with a focus on creating a mobile-friendly and intuitive experience for both customers and merchants. We designed separate interfaces for each user type to ensure that customers could easily manage their loyalty cards while business owners could efficiently manage programs, rewards, and promotions.
We prioritized usability, simplicity, and practical business needs throughout development. We also used AI-assisted development to prototype features, refine the user interface, and improve the overall user experience.
Challenges We Ran Into
One of our biggest challenges was balancing simplicity with functionality. We wanted to make collecting loyalty stamps convenient for customers without creating additional work for small business employees.
We explored different ways to validate purchases, including receipt scanning and QR codes, but these approaches introduced complexity that conflicted with our goal of keeping the platform simple.
We ultimately developed a digital punch-card system using four-digit PIN verification. Merchants provide customers with a PIN to authorize stamp collection and reward redemption. The PIN automatically changes every three hours, adding a layer of security while minimizing employee involvement.
Another challenge was determining which analytics would be most valuable to business owners. Instead of overwhelming merchants with unnecessary statistics, we focused on meaningful insights into customer engagement, loyalty activity, and repeat visits.
Accomplishments That We're Proud Of
We're proud to have developed a platform that addresses a real challenge faced by independent businesses. LoyaltyHub brings multiple digital loyalty cards together in one place while giving merchants a straightforward way to create programs and encourage repeat visits.
We're especially proud of our PIN-based verification system, which balances convenience with security without requiring complex integrations. We also successfully developed distinct customer and merchant experiences, keeping the needs of both audiences in mind.
Most importantly, we turned an idea centered on supporting local businesses into a functional platform with room to grow.
What We Learned
We learned that building useful technology isn't always about adding more features. For our target audience, simplicity, accessibility, and ease of use can be more valuable than complicated functionality.
We also learned how important it is to consider real-world workflows when designing software. A solution may work technically, but it must also fit naturally into how small businesses operate.
Finally, we gained experience using AI-assisted development to rapidly prototype, test, and refine an application while making independent decisions about usability, business logic, security, and customer experience.
What's Next for LoyaltyHub
We want to continue improving LoyaltyHub based on feedback from small business owners and customers. Our next steps include expanding merchant adoption, refining the loyalty and reward redemption experience, and improving analytics to help businesses better understand customer retention.
We also hope to explore additional features, such as more flexible promotional campaigns, customer notifications, and deeper insights into loyalty program performance, while maintaining the simplicity that makes LoyaltyHub useful.
Our long-term vision is to make LoyaltyHub a go-to loyalty platform for independent businesses, helping them strengthen customer relationships, encourage repeat visits, and grow their communities without the cost and complexity of traditional loyalty solutions.
