Inspiration
We were inspired by the idea to make our cities safer in a simple but efficient way.
What it does
We hope to research, conceptualize and develop a business plan to install UV-lighting capable of killing the Sars-Cov-2 virus to high transmission risk public places. Examples: Elevators in public transportation, public toilets, booths of all sorts etc.
How we built it
We didn't really build anything at the moment except for some preliminary research. All support, input and contributions are most welcome.
Challenges we ran into
The fact that the energy flux in the form of radiation decreases proportionally to the inverse square of distance. This is making our lives really difficult at the moment.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Having figured out an estimate of the required dose of UV to kill the virus reliably.
What we learned
We learned the approximate size of the virus, energy flux calculations for real-life low pressure mercury UVC lamps, measurements of a typical elevator in a station, etc.
What's next for lowtech
to develop it into an executable plan.
