About the Project
Inspiration
Low Carbon Work was inspired by the need to integrate sustainability into daily business practices. By combining team recognition with tree planting and carbon offsetting, we aim to create a greener workplace culture.
What We Learned
This project taught us how small actions, like recognizing a teammate, can have a significant impact when paired with sustainability efforts. We also deepened our understanding of using Forge to create practical tools.
How We Built It
Developed on the Atlassian Forge platform, Low Carbon Work seamlessly integrates with Jira. It allows employees to send "seed recognitions" to teammates, triggering real tree planting and carbon offsetting through verified programs.
Challenges
Key challenges included ensuring smooth Jira integration, validating the environmental impact, and designing an engaging yet simple user experience. Overcoming these hurdles reinforced our commitment to making sustainability accessible in the workplace.
