Inspiration

As a bipolar patient of 12 years, I made the tool for myself with only medicine tracker option. Then I met a daughter with father with dementia and I just felt I can do something about it. The app I made for myself, can actually help her and maybe many like her. So I jumped into it and 3 long days I made it ready.

What it does

The app does three main things

  1. It removes the need of using real names, phone number, NHS number, Social Security Number anything yet connects the caregiver with the patient. It reads through research papers to find the answers for caregivers and support them when theywait for appointment. Currently the average waiting time is 18 weeks.

How we built it

Python Flask running in GCP Cloud run. I have downloaded free research journals and processed them to put into datatbase. The MS PWA app is used to convert the website into PWA android app.

Challenges we ran into

Initially I tried to run RAG Vector but could not do it properly due to my laptop was not supporting. I tried to get top tier research data, but some of them asked for money far beyond my reach and some of them simply rejected my request as I am not associated with any university. I could not make native android app even after long try. My laptop was not supporting as it is not high end. There are many websites but the monthly cost is too much for me. The timeline was too short. I decided on Thursday and completed on Sunday, one day from deadline.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I was able too find proper research papers. Google was kind enough to grant me a huge amount of cloud credit, without which I could not have done it. With all technical issues with my laptop, I could find a way to solve the issues. They were far from optimum, but even then I did not give up and made something useful.

What we learned

If you really want something, the God will send help.

What's next for LoveUAD: Love You Always Dad!

I have already applied for NHS Innovation Hub Yorkshire and Humber and if they approve, I will take it to trial with 40 families. If the result is satisfactory, I m hoping to share the app for every one in UK and beyond. I need to make ios app as well

Also, if and when I get some money, I may need to get the app built by professional designer
