Inspiration

We looked at the way our parent's choose to stay in contact with our grandparents and their deep sense of responsibility to take care of them as time does its will.

What it does

LovedOnes sytem is sort of a lego set and a diary that works by putting sensors in different places of the house and to start learning the habits of an elder adult. With the goal of learning their routine and detect anomalies any anomalies. For example, a reduction on physical activity, exposure to extreme temperatures, or leaving the gas valve open by accident. Things we could perceive if we were present.

How we built it

We used a single ESP32 and its built in button to simulate the behavior of different sensors(CO2, Temperture, and Ultrasonic Sensor). We also used Tiger Data to store this telemetric data and created a REST API/ Websocket to using the Drogo/Fast API frameworks. Additionaly, we also use eleven labs to include a voice directed camera system that turns on specific commands and hosted a MediaMTX server in Vultr to transmit live video.

Challenges we ran into

Configuring the servers for deployment took alot of time. The complexity of the system we wanted to build.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Setting up the REST API and Websocket server using Drogon, setting up eleven labs to turn the camera at command and almost setting up the live video streaming feature on the MediaMTX server.

What we learned

Exposure to a new Cloud Computer Service(Vultr), vcpkg package manager, eleven labs.

What's next for LovedOnes

Redesign the system to make it more robust, build a complete ui and continue to work on it as an open source project.
