Inspiration
We discovered that poverty isn't just about financial hardships, but rather it's the evidence of a broken, fallen world. Poverty is "broken relationships". As such we have social, spiritual, educational, environmental, self-appreciation poverty... which afflict the financially poor as well as the affluent.
Even in the U.S, we have evidence of brokenness and poverty, such as substance abuse, domestic abuse, unemployment, mental health problems, lots of debt etc.
We also discovered that to help people achieve their God-given potential, Kingdom-minded human development is key.
What it does
Our unique solution combines Technology + Holistic view of poverty + People Development + Localized providers & opportunities for development... In order to address different forms of poverty.
This led us to the "Love Your Neighbor" or "LYN" App, a digital platform that does two major things 1) Connects people to local human development opportunities. (2) Allows locals to get help or support others in their community by supporting human development organizations
How I built it
Figma.com (a great, free protyping tool) : UI & UX Design. https://www.figma.com/proto/7EnkQDgqo4nsIJdtl6MB1e/LYN-Prototype-Live?node-id=4%3A0&scaling=min-zoom
Bubble.io (one of the foremost no-code development tools today that enables rapid development and validation of MVPs): Implementation of one of LYN's main flows.
Challenges I ran into
Figma UI designs can be imported into Bubble (in theory or at least with beta functionality!). That didn't work for us, and we had to manually recreate our designs in Bubble.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We reviewed and improved our branding. We brainstormed and improved our use cases and user interaction flows. We designed the UI/UX for one of LYN's main flows: Someone searching for and accessing human development help in a community. We implemented the functional flow for the UI we designed. We proved that the toolsets we had identified work for building a fully functional MVP.
What I learned
Teamwork makes the dream work!
