Though Dallas is home to one of the wealthiest zip codes in America, 1 in 6 people in North Texas is food insecure. The rate of food insecurity in Dallas is 47% higher than the national average.

Love Your Neighbor is a mobile-based app aiming to create community and education accessibility to combat the food insecurity challenge in Dallas, Texas.

We empower our neighbors to combat food insecurity by enabling them to search for food resources, connecting them to their neighbors who can help them apply for programs, providing a recipe generator and database, and creating a community of ”mealpools” where neighbors take turns providing meals for each other based on a schedule.

Our team sought to decrease stigma and barriers to food security by framing this challenge as a communal, neighborhood effort. We designed this app for neighbors who are food insecure and neighbors who can help.
