Love Tastes Like Cappuccino

Inspiration

This project started from a modern fairytale idea: a barista gets yelled at by her boss, a stranger steps in, buys the whole café to protect her, they share one night together—and in the morning he leaves her the café and the truth that he’s married.

What it does

Love Tastes Like Cappuccino is a short vertical romance about kindness, power imbalance and a gift that feels both magical and complicated.
The story focuses on one compressed arc: humiliation, protection, an unexpected connection overnight, and the moment she wakes up owning the place that once made her feel small.

How we built it

We structured the story around a few key beats: the conflict with the owner, the customer stepping in, the impulsive purchase, the quiet night, and the morning goodbye.
Characters and locations (small café, back rooms, morning city) were created with AI image/video tools, then edited into 9:16 sequences in CapCut with light upscaling and AI-driven dialogue/ambience.

Challenges we ran into

Showing the whole emotional journey (from stress to safety to bittersweet ending) in very short scenes.
Keeping both leads visually consistent and expressive across multiple AI generations.
Balancing “fairytale” mood with the grounded detail that he is married and this is not a simple happy ending.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We told a compact, self-contained story that feels like a complete modern fairytale in just a handful of vertical shots.
We found a tone that stays warm and romantic while acknowledging the messy reality under the wish-fulfilment.

What we learned

We learned how much can be done with one location and two characters when the turning points are clear.
We also saw how important small gestures and close-ups are in vertical format for stories built on kindness and goodbye.
