Inspiration
Our inspiration for RedFlagr came from how difficult it is to find real connections in today’s dating world. Everyone feels pressure to appear perfect, but pretending only makes it harder to truly know someone. We wanted to create a space where people could lead with their flaws, be honest about their quirks and red flags, and connect with others. By embracing honesty and chaos from the start, we hope to make dating more fun, and real.
What it does
LoveisBlind is an app designed to help people find real connections by leading with their flaws and red flags. Users can swipe through funny, unfiltered profiles, select fun badges to describe themselves (certified clown) and even try Ex Mode to meet an “ex doppelgänger” because sometimes you never learn (feature in progress).
How we built it
We built LoveisBlind using a combination of Cursor for coding and Copilot for AI image generation, which helped us quickly prototype profiles, web design and the mascot graphics.
Challenges we ran into
Early on, one of our biggest challenges was trying to implement too many features at once, from swipe mechanics to badges, audio (swiping left vs right), and the Ex Mode feature, which made it hard to stay focused.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re especially proud of the overall user experience and design, which is polished, playful, and especially our cute mascot (devil cupid) that adds lots of personality and fun.
What we learned
We quickly realized the importance of prioritizing what was achievable for the hackathon, focusing on the features that were most fun, interactive, and representative of our vision.
What's next for Love Is Blind
Looking ahead, we want to expand LoveisBlind into social media, hosting street interviews with couples about red flags, and adding new interactive features to make the app even more engaging (leaderboards ex. most performative male). Ultimately, our goal is to create a space where people can be honest, embrace the chaos, and maybe find love.
