Inspiration

The inspiration for the Lotus AI Podcast stemmed from our fascination with the potential of AI to transform media and entertainment. As avid podcast listeners and tech enthusiasts, we recognized an opportunity to innovate the way people consume news. By combining generative AI technology with the podcast format, we aimed to create a unique, interactive, and constantly evolving news source that is both informative and engaging.

What it does

Lotus AI Podcast automatically generates daily podcast episodes where two AI agents with distinct personalities discuss the latest news. Each episode features a dynamic conversation covering a variety of topics, from global events to technology advancements. The platform not only presents the news but also analyzes and debates different viewpoints, making complex information accessible and engaging to a broad audience.

How we built it

We built Lotus AI Podcast using Python, leveraging several key technologies:

Large Language Models (LLM): We used LLM to enable the AI agents to understand and generate human-like dialogue. TTS (Text-to-Speech): Integrated TTS technology to convert the AI-generated text into spoken audio. APIs: Incorporated news APIs to fetch real-time headlines and content for the agents to discuss. Web Interface: Developed a simple web interface for users to interact with the podcast, such as submitting topics and feedback.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was ensuring the conversation between the AI agents remained coherent and relevant over the course of each episode. Managing the flow of dialogue and maintaining the personalities of the agents required fine-tuning of the NLP models. Additionally, integrating real-time news updates smoothly into the conversation without disruptions posed technical hurdles.

What we learned

Throughout the development of Lotus AI Podcast, we gained insights into how LLM's work and can be leveraged, the challenges of working with real-time data, and the intricacies of audio production in AI contexts. We also learned about the importance of user interface design in making technology accessible.

What's next for Lotus AI Podcast

We are planning to add more distinct personalities, and tuning the template to create more engaging conversations, adding a way to get news everyday Also, planning to add video support.
