Inspiration

We have always felt that the common way of booking flights was not the best one, we wanted to create a new way, easier and more pleasant to reserve flights.
HackYeah has been the perfect occasion to develop it.

What it does

Lotty helps you find flight locations and buy tickets with the help of your personal flight assistant whom you can talk to and thanks to natural language processing it will understand what you say, learn from it and book your flight!

How we built it

We built Lotty using Expo and Amazon web services. We decided to choose expo because we wanted a versatile and robust app and for the backend we obviously choose AWS as they're the best in their sector.

Challenges we ran into

We, as a very young team, had to run in organization issues such as how to divide tasks and work as a team, but finally, we managed to do it well. This was our first time with Amazon Lex, we thought it was an amazing product and we tried it, it has been very fun to learn and after some practice easy to use. But the main challenge we ran into was a restriction of our task, a rule we read too late, stopped everyone under eighteen from undertaking the task we started with. So we managed to change our task five hours since when the competition had started and we moved to new ideas.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The thing we are most proud of is the good teamwork we accomplished, we all felt well and very happy for what we did in those 24 hours. Moreover, we are very satisfied with the user experience that we made, which is very friendly to every type of user.

What we learned

From our bad experience with the change of the task at the last moment, we learned how fast you need to move in the real world to accomplish your goals and that if you really want to do something it doesn't matter if you make a mistake, just learn from it and keep it going. At HackYeah we learned a lot about serverless APIs and user experience, we learned how human-like interactions can replace the ones we are used to today and how this can improve our user experiences.

What's next for Lotty

  • As we know the struggle of checking different luggage sizes for different airlines we are going to implement a new way to check luggage compatibility using AR.
  • We are also going to improve our chatbot better with new interactions and add compatibility with other languages.
  • And finally we are going to add support for voice chat with Lotty
