Feedback + Ideas I can search for the projects but I can't search for the fellow hackers without going inside hackathon. Is it possible to make the hackers list publicly accessible?
You are using followers and promoting to next level if my follower goes above 10. but with in single hackathon it is difficult to get the followers. Also even if I get 10 followers, there is no benefit for the person.
How building a reputation/Portfolio/Projects on devpost is going to help me in long run? As an individual, If I am going to get some kind of work/consultation/projects by other companies through platform, it makes sense to put in an effort to build the portfolio of projects.
I want to list my project and want to sell it. Unless developers won't get monetization opportunity, people won't post more / interesting projects. If you can come up with the feature where I can list my project with price to sell the project, people who are interested in buying the project can connect with the developers for demo etc. As a platform, you can charge the transaction commission of 5%.
Prize winners payment mechanism is not uniform and really difficult to receive based on country. e.g. I won prize for feedback on Atlassian hackathon. But to get the prize I must have US based account. Wise doesn't allow me to get the amount in my Indian bank account. As a platform, you need to make sure, irrespective of country - I should be able to get the prize without any friction and just by sharing bank account details. In today's technology time, the effort required to get the amount in my bank account is insane.
Despite of having in market for 13+ years, frankly I never saw any marketing post on linkedin or other platforms with in my network. I think better targeted marketing should help you get more engaged community. If you only want to focus on technology related hackathons then may be India would be best target market. Number of people working in technology will outnumber any other country.
I didn't saw any post from devpost on social media channel about the people who have won the feedback prize. They may not be winners but they have won the prize (which is not a small achievement). Such mentions on social media would have ripple effect and people would know about devpost. They could aspire to win real money.
Minor change in business model to bring more users and more engaging community.
Associate with brands, have a deal of 1 quiz will be posted per quarter. Per year deal - 4 quizzes. The quiz will be designed by the company/brand. Major focus would be to give knowledge about brand's products, history, company leadership etc. such kind of quiz would force users to learn more about that brand. Which will increase the brand value.
Each quiz will have certain eligility criteria - e.g. on BSchool grads could attempt the quiz, only grads from certain universities could attempt the quiz etc. Brands will get access to detailed profile about all of those who appeared in the quiz. This will help brands to engage with top talent for internship / full time opportunities.
Try to get maximum swag packs from the brands - distribute to the participants who successfully completed it (not the winners but the participants)
All the participants who are not winners, what they are gaining except knowledge? There is no recognition. Provide an participation e-certificate in their profile. Which can be downloaded and which could be shared on linkedin. The certificate should have branding of both the devpost logo along with the hackathon organizer logo. With other details. This will help in marketing.
