Community announcements can change over time, and people may miss important updates or misunderstand what has changed. We wanted to build a tool that helps people understand not just the latest announcement, but also its history and what still needs clarification.

What it does

Lost Context is a community intelligence platform that helps people organize announcements and understand updates. Users can create and edit announcements, view previous versions, detect added and removed words, ask clarification questions, and mark announcements as confirmed.

How we built it

We built Lost Context as a web application using React, TypeScript, Vite, and CSS. We created a dashboard with announcement cards, status indicators, editing tools, and a simple word-comparison feature. Browser local storage keeps announcements available after refreshing the page.

Challenges we faced

One challenge was preserving previous announcement text when an update was made. We also worked on displaying word changes clearly and making sure announcements persisted after refreshing the browser.

What we learned

We learned how to build an interactive web application, manage application state, preserve previous versions, and create a production build. We also learned that showing what changed can help people avoid misunderstandings.

What's next

Future improvements could include shared cloud storage, real-time updates across users, stronger version comparison, and notifications when important community information changes.
