Imagine you’re walking home late at night. Instead of clutching your phone, you simply tap your Labubu keychain, and help is instantly on the way.
That’s LoSAS — the LoRa-Based Safety Alert System
Nowadays, accidents seem to pop up everywhere. While our phones are usually super reliable, they’re kinda useless if there’s no cell signal—or worse, if someone just takes your phone. That’s why we created LoSAS: the Lora Safety Alert System, your tiny guardian angel that doesn’t rely on a cell tower.
What it does
Press a button, and BAM! A notification is sent to your family members. Instant peace of mind, zero judgment.
Basically, a bit of this, a pinch of that, and a whole lot of Googling.
Challenges we ran into
Soldering the antenna without creating a modern art sculpture of wires
Finding a labubu
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Leveraged the existing Meshtastic network to extend our communication range—basically getting more mileage out of LoRa than we get from our morning coffee.
What we learned
LoRa is pretty cool
Don't trust chatGPT, it's evil
What’s next for LoSAS
Implement a sleep mode so it doesn’t guzzle energy like a toddler on candy
Add GPS tracking to share your location when it really matters (not when you’re just “running late”)
