Our web application is to be used by consumers to cater to the customers' purchase habits. Additionally the website would find the best deals for a customer’s list across different websites. This application keeps track of the customers purchase history along with what a customer will likely buy in their area.
The project at the moment is in the module stages at the moment. We have created the database, web scraper for amazon, and front-end. The current status of all pieces are as follows: Database- has been set up, but is not connected to flask to be able to verify users Amazon web scrapper- is functional at the moment but lacks connection to flask to be able to make calls for whatever products desired Front end- visually is mostly complete, but buttons and other actions are not operable.
Finishing remarks, we were limited with what sites we could web scrape with selenium in python, due to the fact that some sites have been constructed to make this a more difficult task. The other way around this was with API’s but it is specific to one item and we do not have the knowledge to be able to modify curl commands properly or generate requests for python to retrieve automatically. The team was unfamiliar with using flask so picking it up for our application was more difficult than anticipated, but we gave it our best shot and stayed optimistic.
We are proud of our teammates, they have been able to do so much, as well as learn so much in so little time. They have worked under pressure for long hours and have taken it well.
