Inspiration

The inspiration for LoopedIn came from our own experiences of not knowing about orgs and feeling like we were "out of the loop" when it came to club events. We also wanted to include a directory for small vendors for clubs to discover and hire them for events, and vice versa.

What it does

This website has 3 views for students, clubs, and vendors. Students can easily discover UIC student organizations based on their interests and favorite them to keep up. There is also a directory for student organizations to discover vendors for future events. Finally, vendors can also access this website and view "vendor requests," which are filled out by student organizations, to see if they fulfill the event's needs and contact the club directly to offer their services.

How we built it

We primarily used React to create a frontend website on VSCode. We also used JSON files to create databases about the student organizations and vendors.

Challenges we ran into

We struggled figuring out how to begin. We weren't sure which languages and frameworks to use. We also had a hard time figuring out how to collaborate with our teammates on GitHub so that we could easily access individual changes.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of figuring out how to build an interactive website that can be used in various ways and for different types of people. We also really enjoyed incorporating vendors into our project, so their businesses can be discovered in addition to clubs being discovered by students.

What we learned

We learned how to collaborate on GitHub, use React, and implement JSON files.

What's next for LoopedIn

We want to add more student organizations, more vendors, and ways for clubs to find others to collaborate with for events.
