Inspiration
As a student, I am oftentimes curious what events are occurring on my campus. However, it is difficult to find a central platform where I can find events that I am interested in near me.
What it does
Loop is a platform that displays events that will occur on a student's campus. It allows club organizers to create events for students to partake in, and allows students to seek out events of interest.
How we built it
Loop was built using Next.js, Typescript, and Google Maps API for the frontend, and Python, flask, and MongoDB for the backend.
Challenges we ran into
A challenge that I encountered was configuring and setting up the Google Maps API to work properly.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud of the amount of progress that I was able to make as a individual contributor while balancing school.
What we learned
Be detail-oriented and be careful not to push secure information
What's next for Loop
I want to expand Loop so that it can provide analytics for Organizers of events. Organizers of events would be able to predict the number of attending members through our platform and prepare accordingly. Furthermore, it would be convenient to set limits on attending members in the future and remove the markers for those events if they are full. I believe that Loop has potential to assist event planning within schools and help build a intertwined community.
