Inspiration
A craving for eru a cameroonian dish had me ready to cook—but one thing stood in my way: the market. I didn’t know where to go, how much the ingredients would cost, or which stores would even have them. I sat there wishing for something simple wishing i could know all these things before hand.
What it does
With this app, you can create a shopping list from the comfort of my home: See which nearby stores carry what I need Compare prices across locations Map the most efficient route to collect everything …before stepping foot outside?”
How we built it
It all began with a story—an idea that sparked our desire to bring it to life. We started by outlining the core features we wanted the application to offer, and from there, we chose a name. Next, we identified several use cases and illustrated them with a use case diagram. Once that was done, we moved on to designing a class diagram to define the application's structure. With the class diagram in place, we listed each view in the application and described its intended functionality. Finally, we translated those ideas into visual designs for the application's interface.
Challenges we ran into
Writing prompts were really hard, and at the beginning we found ourselves modifying the source code because we thought bolt was too dumb to understand. We had a time constraint so we had no choice but to rely on bolt.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We came into this with no expectations, juggling full-time studies and full-time jobs in a city notorious for its traffic. Getting to this point took thoughtful planning, strong collaboration, and mutual understanding. Along the way, we discovered that we could work effectively as a team, complementing and enhancing each other’s strengths.
What we learned
We learned that low to no code or vibe coding has lots of limitations and that unless you actually have a good grasp of the programming language you want to use and or frameworks it may turn out to be really cumbersome. We learned that to do vibe coding, you need to forget everything you know about Software Engineering principles
What's next for LookUp
We were initially hoping to find a buyer or investor, but if that doesn't happen, we’ll move forward with developing it ourselves—because we truly believe in this project.
