Inspiration

Isn't it super frustrating whenever influencers post makeup looks without the description of the items used? We've definitely all experienced influencers gatekeeping products/not providing enough information to find more at some point. Our application aims to ease those frustrations by providing a space to gain inspiration from uploaded looks, access specific product lists, and maintain your own makeup bag online!

What it does

This application has a gallery of posts to look at what users have uploaded and a chance to upload your own posts. This application will host images and have a connection to the link of products that were used to create the makeup look. One can list what makeup items they have on their account to keep track of their own items or to show others.

How we built it

For the frontend, we used Bootstrap as well as HTML/CSS/Javascript to nicely integrate the components of our website. For the backend, we used Flask with SQLAlchemy.

Challenges we ran into

Some challenges that we ran into include learning how to set up Flask and SQLAlchemy, connecting front and backends, and formatting the website the way we designed it. We also ran into quite a bit of merge conflicts with using Git, but we eventually learned how to solve those for the future!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of being able to come up with a product idea in limited time, create a design, and finish most of the actual implementation! Although we have the basic functionality working, we want to make some of our features look nicer as well as add other features.

What we learned

We learned how to take a design and an idea to an actual application that others can find useful. We also learned how to work with one another and split up the tasks accordingly.

What's next for LookBook

We want to extend LookBook's functionality as a social media website. Users can upload their own posts besides viewing other ones. It would also be cool if users can add each other as friends and interact with each others posts through likes and comments like a real social media platform.
