Inspiration

Our submission for the Auto Insurance track, our theming was partially inspired by a popular manga genre, the isekai. Essentially, an isekai is where a young, unassuming normal (usually) man in Earth gets suddenly transported to another world: usually by a truck crash! Obviously, we would like to limit the amount of these events.

We were also inspired by the MHacks 2025 winner ASI (Artificial Sandwich Intelligence) in terms of its cheekiness and willingness to make fun of the rampant AI-fication of hackathons by implementing our own "AI" assisstant!.

On a more serious note, we've noticed the continuing trend of car companies in the 2020s to implement features that ended up harming users in the long run. For example, the touchscreen dashboard, first implemented by the Buick Riviera and popularized by Tesla, turned out to be a nuiscane as its lack of haptic feedback forced drivers to be more attentive on the screen and not on the road- not something we want in our roads! The platform behind our product relies on trends helping our drivers stay safe on the road, rather than staying glued to metaphorical and literal screens.

What it does

Essentially, a camera is installed on the top left of your dashboard. It will locally track where your face and eye positions are using MediaWire's facial landmark software. If you spend too much time looking down, or at your phone or dashboard, then you'll get warnings to keep your eyes on the road.

How we built it

We spent the most of the first half experimenting with different system design procedures. After a few hiccups, we decided on our current model implementing OpenWili.

Challenges we ran into

-Git issues and machine-specific problems

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Getting our platform up and running!

What we learned

-Git, hardware skills, system design.

What's next for Look at the Road, Sir!

-We will be continuing development and continuing to hypertune the facial recognition module until we are able to successfully decipher all forms of distraction on the road.
