Inspiration

As avid travelers, our inspiration came from the desire to make planning vacations easier and more enjoyable for everyone. We aim to create a tool and provide data that ensures people have a great time in London.

What it does

Our interactive web platform organizes attractions and reviews in a user-friendly interface. It also allows users to save attractions to their itinerary, making exploring London simple and enjoyable. Additionally, it shows the distance between attractions

How we built it

We started by mapping out a comprehensive workflow diagram to visualize the steps involved in building the platform. We set up a development environment using tools such as Python for data processing, Flask for the backend, and HTML/CSS/JavaScript for the frontend. We used API to fetch data related to attractions in London. After fetching the data, we applied filters. With the data ready, we built the front end of the platform using a responsive design.

Challenges we ran into

One of the main challenges was working with unclean and a vast amount of data. We had to spend considerable time cleaning and filtering the data to ensure it was relevant and usable for our purpose. Another issues we had since this was our first time working on a full stack project, was the difficulties in setting up the development environment, connecting the database to the server and web.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the perseverance and hard work that everyone put into finishing this project. Completing the entire project in just 24 hours was not easy. We encountered numerous challenges and setbacks, but through determination and teamwork, we were able to push through and finish on time. Every team member supported each other, ensuring that we crossed the finish the project.

What we learned

Working together as a team taught us the importance of clear communication and dividing tasks based on each team member strength. And supporting each other through setback. This project presented us with various technical challenges, and through that we were able to improve our problem-solving, and researching skill.

What's next for London Best

There are still some areas of London we haven’t fully covered, so expanding our attraction database to include every corner of the city and other location types. Also adding more cities into the database is a possibility.
