🌟 Building Yes I Learn: A Personal AI Tutor for Every Child

💡 Inspiration

Two weeks ago, my youngest daughter came home with a disappointing science test score. As any parent would, I encouraged her to improve by the next exam. I started thinking about how I could support her — should I arrange a tutor?

In my search, I discovered educational LLMs (large language models) and experimented with one alongside my daughter. She was immediately hooked. That was my “aha” moment — if this worked for my family, it could help other busy parents too. Around the same time, I came across the Bolt.New Hackathon. I’d never used Bolt before, but I decided to dive in.

🧠 What I Learned

Bolt.New is powerful — within 24 hours I burned through 10 million tokens building features at lightning speed.
Educational AI has massive potential to personalize learning and support students across all grade levels.
Parents and teachers are eager for tools that bridge classroom and home learning without adding more stress.

🔧 How I Built Yes I Learn

Initially, I started building with Firebase but spent two days stuck at the login page. With just 3 days left until the hackathon deadline, I switched to Bolt. In a whirlwind 24 hours, I developed the MVP of Yes I Learn — an AI-powered tutoring app designed for parents, students, and teachers.

🚧 Challenges I Faced

🧪 Token limits: Burn through 10M tokens in one day — shows how much capability I was able to unlock, but also how resource-hungry AI can be
⏰ Time crunch: With only 3 days before the hackathon closed, every decision had to be fast and focused
🧩 Balancing simplicity and power: Making the app intuitive for parents while keeping it smart enough to personalize learning paths wasn’t easy
