Inspiration
Legacy applications often leave developers with plain text logs that are slow to inspect. LogRevive resurrects that familiar workflow as a lightweight, interactive browser tool.
What it does
Import a local UTF-8 TXT or LOG file (up to 10 MB), or load the built-in sample. LogRevive extracts common timestamps and severity levels, preserves unrecognized lines, and lets you combine keyword search with severity filters. Statistics and a bar chart update with the filtered results. A paginated table keeps navigation manageable, and CSV export includes all matching entries.
Logs are processed in browser memory. The app has no account, backend, log-upload service, or AI API dependency.
How it was built
The frontend uses Vue 3, TypeScript and Vite. Kiro IDE generated the initial requirements, design, task specifications and a partial implementation. When generation stalled on unavailable file-editing tools, Codex completed the missing components, fixed observed defects, ran regression and browser checks, and deployed the app to GitHub Pages. The repository includes the original .kiro/specs/logrevive files and an MIT license.
Challenges
The main challenges were handling varied log lines without losing information, keeping filters and statistics consistent, and exporting every matching row rather than only the visible page. CSV escaping and spreadsheet-formula protection were also addressed.
Accomplishments
The working demo supports local import, sample data, combined filtering, severity statistics, pagination and CSV export. Four regression tests and a production build passed. Browser checks covered valid and invalid files, Chinese text, unknown lines, empty results, CSV download and desktop/mobile layouts. GitHub Actions builds, tests and deploys the public app.
What I learned
A spec-driven starting point helps organize a small project, but generated task checkmarks still need to be checked against working code and real user flows.
Next steps
Future improvements could include additional log-format presets and richer time-based analysis. These are not part of the current MVP.
