Inspiration

Developers waste countless hours deciphering complex stack traces, server errors, and deployment crash logs. We wanted to build a lightweight, intelligent tool that acts as an on-call Senior DevOps engineer to instantly translate cryptic errors into actionable fixes.

What it does

LogPilot is an AI-powered DevOps assistant. It allows users to paste any cryptic terminal traceback, server error, or deployment failure. Using Google's Gemini AI, it instantly analyzes the problem and outputs:

  • Root Cause: A clear, one-sentence explanation of what went wrong.
  • Step-by-Step Fix: A structured guide to resolve the issue.
  • Terminal Commands: Exact bash or command-line scripts needed to patch the server immediately.

How we built it

  • Frontend & UI: Built completely in Python using Streamlit for a fast, modern, and clean web interface.
  • AI Backend: Powered by the google-generativeai SDK, utilizing dynamic prompt engineering to force structured, developer-friendly output.
  • Deployment: Hosted live on Streamlit Community Cloud and managed via GitHub version control.

Challenges we ran into

Handling API model version updates and ensuring smooth markdown rendering for code snippets and terminal commands inside the web UI.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully building a fully functional diagnostic tool that bridges DevOps error logs with generative AI within a hackathon timeframe.

What we learned

The immense power of prompt engineering in shaping raw LLM output into precise, terminal-ready technical steps.

What's next for LogPilot

  • Adding direct integration with Docker logs.
  • Real-time webhook monitoring for automated server health checks. ## What it does
