Inspiration
As a designer, I often ended up with unused logo concepts — ideas that never got chosen by clients but still had creative value. These logos deserved to live, to be used by someone else starting a business. That idea turned into Logo Store — a curated marketplace where designers can sell unused logo designs, and founders or creators can purchase them with full rights.
It’s built to empower the creative community and help designers monetize their unused work, while providing founders with high-quality, ready-to-use logos.
What it does
Logo Store is a design-forward platform that enables:
- 🧑🎨 Designers to list unused logos with ease, set pricing, and optionally offer customization services.
- 🛍️ Buyers to browse curated logos in a sleek, minimal slider interface, preview mockups on hover, and purchase logos securely.
- 🔐 Admins to review and approve designs before publishing, ensuring quality control.
Every purchased logo comes with a watermark-free version and a downloadable copyright transfer note — generated automatically.
How we built it
- Frontend: Built with React, TypeScript, and TailwindCSS, using Framer Motion for smooth UI animations and slider transitions.
- Backend & Auth: Powered by Firebase; Firestore (real-time DB), Firebase Auth (secure login), Firebase Storage (image uploads), and Cloud Functions.
- Payments: Integrated PayPal Checkout for fast and trusted transactions.
- Image Processing: Cloud Functions convert uploaded images to
.webpand apply a subtle watermark. Watermarks are removed after purchase. - Role System: Role-based UI for Buyers, Designers, and Admins managed via Firestore and protected via Firebase rules.
Design-wise, the platform follows a geometric, minimalist layout with luxurious colors, large white space, and strong typography pairing: Playfair Display for headings, and Inter for paragraphs.
Challenges we ran into
- 🧠 Balancing creative freedom for designers with quality control (solved via admin approval workflows).
- 🖼️ Automating image conversion and watermarking securely while keeping image quality high.
- 🔐 Setting up secure Firestore rules and user access roles that scale with the platform.
- 🛒 Designing a frictionless checkout experience that feels modern but works reliably.
- 🔧 Ensuring scalability and speed with Firebase while keeping the UI smooth and responsive.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- ✅ Built a fully functional MVP with authentication, real-time data, payments, and media processing.
- 🎨 Designed a premium visual experience that feels both modern and editorial.
- 🔐 Secured the platform with proper role-based access and Firebase rules.
- 📄 Automated the creation of license certificates for buyers upon purchase.
- 💬 Created a foundation where designers can build their reputation with portfolios and links.
What we learned
- Firebase is incredibly powerful, but requires careful planning around rules and structure for scalability.
- UX consistency — from onboarding to checkout — is essential in making a marketplace feel premium.
- Designers appreciate tools that respect their creativity and make uploading as easy as possible.
- Hover states, transitions, and clean typography matter a lot when you're building for a visual audience.
