Inspiration

I've been logging calories in my quest to lose weight and it feels like the fitness apps take themselves too seriously. Lighten up! Have some fun, laugh at your struggle to avoid chocolate mousse.

What it does

Depending on whether you want encouraging or demoralizing feedback, you enter a food that you've eaten and the website returns a junk food of either lesser or greater weight, respectively, for the same amount of calories. In encouraging mode, called "Angel Food" (like the cake), you feel better having gotten fuller off a lower calorie food. In demoralizing mode, called "Devil Food", you realize you could have totally eaten that slice of pie and been just as full

How I built it

Custom HTML and CSS code in Sublime Text Editor. I used Bootstrap for reference and inspiration

Challenges

I ran into I don't know how to use backend languages like PHP or JS. Therefore the website isn't fully functional -- yet.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Coding! I'm a mechanical engineering major, I've had not taken courses in CS. This is a showcase of all I have learned from the web and peers. I think it looks really clean and functional for someone with little experience.

What I learned

HTML and CSS are cute but they're totally useless without a backend. Next language to learn is JS.

What's next for Logged

Getting the backend working! Then connecting it with a larger database.
