Inspiration

Fading Ink, Lasting Memories The uneven traces of ink in a passport hold the very air of a newly discovered land. Yet as the world goes digital, these physical proofs of our journeys are quietly fading away. Our goal was to bridge the analog and digital worlds—bringing the warmth of physical travel stamps into a quiet digital archive.

What it does

LOGBIRD is a quiet travel archive app that transforms your travel history into a lasting graphic record. Built around three core pillars:

  • Digital Passport Stamps: Log your trips as customized travel stamps with ink-inspired colors and clean, paper-like presentation.
  • Travel Statistics (Destinations): Automatically aggregate and visualize your lifetime journey counts, total visited countries, and timeline at a glance.
  • All-Journey Export (IAP): Unlock a one-time purchase (powered by RevenueCat) to transform your accumulated travel memories into a beautiful printable poster (A4 PDF/PNG).

Note: Stored locally on your device for absolute privacy—a calm, personal log with no accounts, logins, or social feeds.

How we built it

  • Cross-Platform iOS Architecture: Built with React + Capacitor to package a web-first interface into a native iOS app.
  • In-App Purchases: RevenueCat handles the logbird_all_journey_export one-time purchase and entitlement/restore flow seamlessly.
  • AI-Assisted Development: Used Devin for rapid code generation, architectural consultation, and layout refinement.
  • Poster Generation: Utilized html2canvas and jspdf to convert travel records into a styled A4 poster with a responsive grid and stamp scaling.
  • Automated Build Pipeline: GitHub Actions for iOS builds and automatic TestFlight deployment.

Challenges we faced

The primary challenge was designing a poster layout that feels balanced across any number of entries. We tuned grid sizing, stamp scaling, and typography so that the exported poster stays visually consistent whether a user has 1 stamp or 50 stamps.

What we learned

We learned how to merge algorithmic design with a nostalgic emotional concept. By relying on Devin for rapid code iteration and RevenueCat to offload monetization complexity, we were able to focus on crafting a refined user experience and turning private travel logs into lasting graphic art.

Technical Notes

  • Stack: React 18, Vite, Tailwind CSS, Capacitor 8, RevenueCat, html2canvas, jspdf.
  • Why Capacitor: The app grew out of a web-based prototype, and Capacitor let us wrap that experience into a native iOS app without rebuilding the UI from scratch.
  • IAP: One-time logbird_all_journey_export entitlement via RevenueCat on iOS.
  • Export: Invisible A4-sized DOM node rendered via html2canvas at high scale, then converted to PDF with jspdf or saved as PNG.
  • Data: Stored locally on device; users can manually back up and restore their data as a JSON file.
  • AI Collaboration: Devin was used for scaffolding, component layout, and styling iterations; core product decisions and UI/UX tuning were human-led.
