Inspiration

Reading log files takes hours, leads to mistake, and takes up costly ressources that could better be used elsewhere. But how can we change that? By bringing the log file to life. Our virtual assistant logai gives your log files a voice and helps you detect problems and errors in thousand lines of text with a simple question.

What it does

logai takes huge input files and uses a data-driven algorithm to compress the document to only a fraction of its original size, keeping only the meaningful parts. This tailormade log-compression technique allows logai to analyze thousand line long files nearly effortlessly. The smart assistant eagerly awaits your questions, helping you find the information you are looking for, and, if desired, even gives you a detailed explanation. In case logai needs to work a bit longer then expected, the witty chatbot might even crack a joke to keep you entertained while waiting.

How we built it

There was a long road to logai becoming the complex little helper we see today, it started with a humble piece of code from the tutorial provided to us. Quickly, we build on that and our brains ran hot with new ideas. We were driven by the question, how can we do better? What does the industry want, what does it need? Reading through papers and using creative problem solving, we finally came to the answer: logai.

Challenges we ran into

Looking at the polished result, we are proud to have reached the final line, of a road, that has not always been kind to us. Soon we realized, coming up with a sophisticated algorithm bears it challenges: We were confronted with oftentimes slow runtimes and a lackluster performance, which turned debugging into a tideous chore. But it was through these struggles, that we gained the most knowledge and can now pat ourselves on the back for overcoming them.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

To be frank, we are proud to be able to present a product that works to you. None of us possessing any deep knowledge about the project area, we not only dipped our toes into new technologies, but jumped head first. We are happy to have made it, about peservering and keeping a good team spirit through frustrating and inspiring moments.

What we learned

We may have taught logai to interact with log files in such a sleek and transformational way, but at the end of the day, it was this little responsive helper that taught us so much: About ways to filter, simplify and summarize data, setting up a chatbot and using new techniques. But also about committing to a project and finding an elegant solution to a complex problem. Being truly innovative means being adaptive and sometimes going against the stream when it is necessary. That is what we did with our product.

What's next for log2win

As a streamlined and scalable solution, we a logai stripping of the baby shoes and maturing into an industry ready solution. But we also know, that the secret to a good product is to fall in love with the problem, not the solution. So we will take our experience and continue doing our best to deliver digital products, that make a difference.
