Inspiration
A return to in-person instruction has seen a surge in events hosted by clubs and organizations on campus. Scrolling through newsletter after newsletter to a seemingly endless mailbox is not an efficient way to access the resources students need to succeed in college. We thought "what if we could intentionally browse workshops that tailored our interests in one place?"
What it does
LOFO is a revolutionary way to find resources on campus. Students would be able to browse events hosted by the department, clubs, and professional fraternities without subscribing to a million newsletters and constantly checking their mailbox because of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out). By clicking on the category and tracks that they're interested in, students can browse and RSVP for events and workshops they are interested in. LOFO will then send a google calendar invite link to their mailbox. Clubs and organizations can create events and would have access to the students that had RSVPed for their event.
How we built it
Through Bubble, a no-code platform, we were able to integrate Google Maps, Geolocation, Google Calendar APIs to collect map data and google calendar.
Challenges we ran into
Challenges we ran into includes having the button on the pop-up screen to connect the workflow to a successful RSVP page. Another issue was the mutual exclusivity of the tracks which didn't allow users to browse events from two desired tracks.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of the integration of the search bar that allows users to intentionally search for a club or event that they had in mind. For both of us, it was our first time learning Bubble, and building the workflow from scratch was a huge accomplishment for both of us.
What we learned
We learned a lot of different aspects of product management. From design to data storage to work flow, we really evolved as product designers, and learned many things simultaneously.
What's next for LOFO
We want to create a page for clubs to make their events directly, and also for their accounts to access the list of people who RSVPed for their event.
