Inspiration
We wanted to help all of the lil kiddies who get lost on the supermarket and the dogs that run away and the fluffbrains who lose their stuff all the time (me).
What it does
LOF helps locate lost friends/objects in local vicinity. With a GPS, LOF shows the distance between you and your friend and the direction they are with a navigation arrow.
How we built it
We used Android Studio and Android studio development kits to build the LOF app.
Challenges we ran into
We were on a time crunch and had no experience with Android app development, meaning that we had to speedrun tutorials and coding our own app. We didn't have any hardware to test so we had to use an Android emulator. We also couldn't test LOF with multiple people at a time. Originally, we were going to add a quest arrow that also shows the direction of your friends, but we ran out of time so the quest arrow will be a future development.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We managed to build an app in with no experience in Android app development.
What we learned
We learned more about Android development and gained experience using Android SDKs and Android Dev Studio.
What's next for LOF
In the future we want to implement a navigation arrow (basically a quest arrow) for the app that points in your friend's direction. This was the original plan but we ran out of time :'(
