Inspiration
The inspiration for the app came from the problem I faced. Yesterday, I searched for a stopwatch to track the time it takes me to build a project. On Google, I saw a stopwatch that I could just use without tracking a task, and I saw an opportunity. Build Lockmode.xyz in just under an hour using Bolt.new, and I documented everything on X.
What it does
It's a simple stopwatch that you can use offline to track how long it takes you to finish a task and keep track of it with analytics.
How we built it
I built Lockmode from idea to finish in just under an hour, and I one-shot it with Bolt. Here is the tool stack I used:
- Claude for PRD and prompts
- Bolt.new for product development
- Tally form for creating a waitlist
- Github repository
- Cursor for minor bug fixes
- Netlify for deployment
Challenges we ran into
There was no specific challenge I ran into since I already knew what I wanted, and the PRD and prompts were ready, and I got the app in just one prompt.
Yes, there were a few bugs that I fixed in minutes, and yes, there is one bug I am still facing that is the pause and resume bug. Since I don't understand coding, this is getting on my nerves.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am proud of two things here:
- It took me just an hour to go from idea to finish and launch the app
- I got the working app in just one prompt
What we learned
Since this was my second vibe coding project, I learned it's important to prepare your prompt before you ask Bolt.new to building it for you.
App creation only took me 10 mins, but preparation like:
- Creating a PRD
- Market research
- Keyword research
- Branding
- Copy
- SEO
- Selecting the right domain
These things took most of my time.
What's next for LockMode - Simple Stopwatch for Deep Work
Since it's just an impulse project I built, all while documenting my process in public here, is what I plan to do next:
- Launch on Product Hunt, BetaList, and similar directories like this to improve my domain rating
- Promote it on my X, Reddit, and LinkedIn
- Since I have a waitlist for the upcoming features on the app, once I get 100 people on my waitlist, I will plan on monetizing the app with a lifetime deal of just $29.
- Once we get 1000 organic visitors, I will monetize the app using sponsorship and ads.
All this while I will continue to use it for myself.
