Inspiration

A few years ago, I started taking my fitness seriously, but after the first two years, I noticed I wasn't getting the results I wanted. I spoke to a personal trainer about it, and he asked me about my lifts, bench press, bicep curls, etc and what my nutrition looked like. I couldn't answer clearly, and he said that was the problem. I wasn't properly tracking my diet and lifts. This meant that I wasn't improving progressively.

So I decided to start tracking it. I was writing my notes app, what I lifted, what I ate, but at some point, it stopped being sustainable. I decided to download an app, and I noticed there were too many apps to do different things. One for tracking your workout, another one for tracking your nutrition and another one for tracking your body weight. It didn't make sense to have three apps to do the same thing. So I decided to create this app to do everything in one.

What it does

IntraFit allows you to track your workouts, your nutrition and your body weight in one app. It shows you the correlation between your workouts, nutrition and body weight. It also allows you to see workouts and get recommendations on nutrition and your workouts. It's simple, it's easy to use, and you don't have to use multiple apps for it.

How we built it

The app was built in Bolt using Superbase, React Native and Expo. I first wrote a rough description of the app and the features I wanted, then I uploaded that into ChatGPT to refine. I exported the PDF file, put that into Bolt and used that to get the first version of the app.

Once that was done, I started to refine the features and make improvements by using prompts. 85% of the app was built using Bolt, and then I took it into Cursor to refine the app and deploy it.

Challenges we ran into

  • I started looking for teammates late, so most teams were formed already, and I didn’t end up with teammates
  • I wasted tokens trying to make improvements that were not a big deal
  • I ran into hallucinations where Bolt assumed it had created tables in Supabase for certain features, even though it hadn’t
  • I almost ran out of tokens at the end

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • I started, built and deployed my first ever cross-platform app!
  • Despite not having a team, I kept myself motivated and completed my project
  • If everything goes well, I will be a joint World record holder!

What we learned

  • I learned that Bolt is more powerful than I thought. I used to see it as a way to build only prototypes but I’ve now seen that I can build full apps with it.
  • I learnt about Expo for the first time ever
  • I learned how to prompt Bolt better

What's next for IntraFit

I've started using the app myself to track my nutrition and workouts. I plan to give it to some people I know in my gym so they can also use it. The goal of that is to get feedback about bugs, feature requests and also areas of improvement. Once I'm confident I have something that's good enough, I'll release a paid version of the app to the Play Store and the Apple iOS Store.
