The Problem
Student grades of those whom turn in assignments right before the deadline correspond to a 5% drop in grades. Websites like youtube, tiktok, and instagram suck up time from students. Their algorithm for recommending videos are designed to increase user engagement and retention.
The Solution
We add a paywall like interface where you can’t access the website you requested until you solve a flashcard set which the user made. Users can make their own flashcards which can either be chosen when they open up one of the distracting websites or they can choose for it to be randomly chosen. You can choose how much time you are allowed to stay on the website before you have to solve another set of flashcards.
A Sentence Similarity model was used to create the grading algorithm, allowing for small changes in wording between the answer the user provides and the one on the flashcard to still be correct.
