Inspiration
Once at a previous hackathon, I met someone I was interested in but only exchanged LinkedIn QR codes. I felt like making a move via dm's would've been crazy and wished there was a way to speak to connections in general more casually
What it does
It's essentially a social media/dating app that shares multiple similarities with LinkedIn. You can find people looking for friends, romance, or even just networking buddies to "lock in" with your network
In the community section you can find different kinds of students and professionals coming together over commonality or interest (ex: Software Engineers in Boston, DMV Internship Seekers, Girls in Gaming, etc)
How we built it
The entire thing was made sing figma, it's not a full-on, operable project, simply a demonstration of what it would look like built
Challenges we ran into
I can't really program that well, or at all, so a lot of the filtering features this app would have aren't expressed properly in the prototype. For example, there would be a way to filter out co-workers or bosses from seeing your profile either for romance or altogether
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm proud to have actually finished something as I was close to throwing in the towel
What we learned
I learned how to do transition animations using prototype and making functioning sliders
What's next for LockedIn
Not entirely sure, this was mostly a fun little project. I feel a good number of people feel comfortable making a move in dms? If I want to take this seriously, I'd need to properly gauge interest before proceeding with making an actual app
