Job seekers get lost in thousands of listings with unclear skill requirements. We built a "Career GPS" to match them with jobs and guide their learning.
What it does
Matches users with jobs using skill algorithms, provides AI career recommendations via personality quiz, generates learning roadmaps, tracks applications, scrapes LinkedIn for networking contacts.
How we built it
React + TypeScript + Tailwind for frontend. Supabase (PostgreSQL + Edge Functions) for backend. Gemini AI via Lovable gateway.
Challenges we ran into
AI returning markdown instead of JSON, fuzzy skill matching, metrics calculation bugs.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Real-time skill matching across multiple jobs, beautiful UI, auto-generated roadmaps with real course links.
What we learned
PostgreSQL for multi-tenant apps, AI function calling for reliable outputs, fuzzy matching beats exact matching, edge functions are faster/cheaper.
