Inspiration

As computer science students (and engineers), we sometimes find ourselves hunched over when coding. Our posture is abysmal, so we decided to combat this. Moreover, it is important for one's well being to stay in good health and one way to start that is great posture.

What it does

Our application tracks your posture through the front webcam and indicates when you need to straighten up your posture through a constantly updating heads up display. The display lights up green or red depending on your posture and provides posture suggestions via Google Gemini. As per our inspiration, we built in a Pomodoro timer to aid in efficient studying, while maintaining a good posture.

How we built it

We built it with various technologies including FastAPI, Python on the backend to analyze the posture, ReactJS with Vite and TailwindCSS with ShadCN UI Library for styling on the frontend for seamless and engaging user experience.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into getting the logic behind the posture analytics as it needed to compute the points or landmarks to analyze the posture. We had issues dockerizing our application and having problems with Dockerfile and docker compose. Similarly, we had problems on the frontend getting the canvas drawing to work properly with the camera.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of communicating and collaborating effectively and learning new technologies and frameworks. Furthermore, we are proud of successfully creating a product in a short amount of time.

What we learned

We learned how to use in demand languages and technologies such as ReactJS, Python and Docker.

What's next for LockedIn

The potential features that are next for LockedIn, are deployment, gesture control using hands to control certain features like pomodoro timer. Additionally, having a mobile version where it helps you stay focused and helps you put your phone to the side. Using a database to track progress overtime would be helpful for users that need to get rid of this habit and ensures that they stack on the right track and have better posture.
