Here at Hack Tuah, we understand just how hard it is to get in a good study sesh when the doom scroll is calling. It's so easy to get distracted that sometimes we don't even realize that we aren't putting in our best effort. But never fear! With our new study software, Lock In, you will (probably) never face this issue again! By monitoring your brainwaves with OpenBCI as you study, Lock In sends push notifications when you are unfocused on the task at hand and reminds you to LOCK BACK IN. Using OpenBCI Ganglion, Brainflow, Scikit-learn, Pandas, Jupyter Notebook, our back-end takes in the electrical activity of the brain and trains a random forest classifier model on that data in order to classify the brain activity as "focused" or "unfocused". Based on the classification at any moment in the study session, our front-end (constructed with HTML, CSS, Javascript, and Flask) notifies the user visually when they have become dangerously unfocused, in hopes that they will then LOCK BACK IN. In the future, we hope to extend our project to include push notifications and other study features.
Hack tuah, study on that thang!
