Inspiration
We've noticed how easy it is to be distracted nowadays when trying to work. Distractions like youtube and netflix are just a button away making it difficult to focus considering pretty much all work nowadays is done online. We also wanted to come up with a tool that makes learning easier and more interactive, reducing the friction barrier for students to learn.
What it does
*Short-form content to explain educational concepts *Webpage redirection to maintain focus *Learn about topics you are interested in
How we built it
- We used the Flask framework to manage and organize the backend. We coded the front-end using simple HTML, Javascript, and CSS.
Challenges we ran into
- We ran into many bugs with getting the extension to close tabs on the users web browser.
- We had challenges learning to use API's.
- We had never used the Flask framework before and dealt with github branches. We binged youtube tutorials for 2 hours before getting to work.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- AI generated responses for the quiz generator in the learn mode.
- Learning to use the Flask framework in 2 hours.
- Figuring how to use one github for our project. Using branches and figuring out pull requests
What we learned
- Flask Framework
- API_Keys
- Object Oriented Programming
- CSS
- Github Branching, Pull Requests, etc
- SQL-Lite
What's next for Lock-In
- We plan fix some minor bugs, incompatibilties with specific URLs
- Scaling the project to run on mobile devices not just a web browser
- More learning modes
