Inspiration

We started LocalServe by thinking about a simple but frustrating problem: finding reliable local help is harder than it should be. Most platforms either overwhelm users with too many options or don’t provide enough trust signals to make a confident decision. People spend too much time comparing providers, reading reviews, and still feel unsure. At the same time, many service providers struggle to stand out, even when they offer great work. We asked ourselves: What if instead of searching, users could simply describe what they need — and get matched instantly? That idea became the foundation of LocalServe.

What it does

LocalServe is an AI-powered marketplace that connects users with trusted local service providers instantly. Instead of manually searching and comparing options, users simply describe what they need in natural language. The platform then analyzes their request and matches them with the most relevant providers based on location, availability, pricing, and experience. LocalServe also helps service providers optimize their pricing and visibility using smart insights based on local demand and competition.

How we built it

We built LocalServe as a full-stack marketplace using Base44, focusing on speed, usability, and real-world relevance. The platform includes: A customer experience for browsing and booking services A provider dashboard for managing jobs, pricing, and availability A trust system with verification, ratings, and reviews The most important part of our build was integrating AI in a meaningful way: Smart Provider Matching We designed a system that ranks providers based on multiple factors like location, availability, ratings, and responsiveness. AI Assistant for Users Instead of using filters, users can describe their needs in natural language. The system interprets the request and automatically finds the most relevant providers. Dynamic Pricing Suggestions Providers receive pricing guidance based on local demand and competition, helping them stay competitive while maximizing earnings. We focused on making AI practical, not just a feature, but something that directly improves decision-making.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was making the platform feel realistic and trustworthy. We had to: Ensure providers looked unique (different profiles, images, and data) Create believable reviews and ratings Structure data in a way that supports meaningful comparisons Another challenge was designing AI features that actually help users instead of adding complexity. It was tempting to over-engineer, but we focused on keeping things simple: Clear inputs Fast results Useful recommendations Finally, integrating everything into a seamless experience without breaking the existing structure required careful iteration.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

What we learned

We learned that marketplaces succeed not by offering more choices, but by helping users make better decisions faster. Through LocalServe, we explored how AI can reduce friction by turning search into a simple conversation. We also learned the importance of keeping AI practical and user-focused, rather than overly complex. Additionally, we gained experience designing for trust — making sure providers feel real, reviews are believable, and the overall experience feels reliable.

What's next for LocalServe

We see LocalServe evolving into a fully intelligent local services platform where: Users don’t search — they simply describe their needs Providers are matched instantly based on real context Trust and transparency are built into every interaction Our goal is to make finding local help as easy as having a conversation.

LocalServe is not just a marketplace — it’s a smarter way to connect people with the help they need. And we believe AI is the key to making that experience faster, more intuitive, and more human.
